Closed-Loop Pneumatic Conveying: Is It for You?

Tuesday, July 8, 2014

Time:  12:00 PM (Noon) – 2:00 PM EDT

Presented by:  Jack Hilbert and Paul Solt

Moderated by:  Kayla Carrigan, Associate Editor of Powder and Bulk Engineering

Webinar Cost:  $99.00 USD

Registration fee is non-refundable after the live event.

Webinar Details:  This is the FIRST webinar focusing on the specifics of a Closed-Loop Pneumatic Conveying System. In the past, we’ve discussed the use and application of this technique as a solution when dealing with materials that need to be handled with an inert gas or in cases where any form of toxic or hazardous emission to the environment must be eliminated. While these discussions introduced an effective problem-solving technology, they didn’t go into specific detail, as we’ll do in this webinar. We’ll look primarily at dilute-phase pneumatic conveying systems in a closed-loop configuration that use a rotary airlock as the line charger and a positive-displacement blower as the gas supply. Our presentation will include a review of both pressure and vacuum conveying systems.

Topics will include the following:

•  The basic system flow sheet
•  System design considerations
•  Equipment selection criteria
•  Gas supply and make-up requirements
•  Controls and instrumentation requirements

If you’re not very familiar with basic dilute-phase pneumatic conveying technology and terminology, we recommend viewing our previous webinar sessions dealing with this topic. These webinars can be found in our Bookstore.

Presenter Information:  Jack D. Hilbert, PE, is principal consultant with Pneumatic Conveying Consultants in Schnecksville, Pa., and has more than 30 years of experience in the application, design, engineering, installation, and operation of pneumatic conveying systems. He also has written numerous papers and given many presentations at technical conferences.

Paul E. Solt is a consultant at Pneumatic Conveying Consultants. Paul has been working in the field of pneumatic conveying for more than 50 years and has been writing the PBE column, "Pneumatic Points to Ponder...," for more than 20 years. He presents seminars on pneumatic conveying for the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the Center for Professional Advancement in New Jersey, and other organizations. He also holds several patents for pneumatic conveying devices.

Can’t attend?  If you register for a webinar but can't attend the live event, an archived version will be accessible online for 30 days once it concludes. This allows you to view the entire webinar presentation and Q&A session at a time most convenient to your schedule.

PDH Information:  If you are working on a certification or licensing program that allows Professional Development Hours, CSC Publishing Inc. will (upon request) provide a Certificate of Participation for our educational webinars put on by Powder and Bulk Engineering. One certificate per registered participate will be sent if the webinar is viewed. You should check with your employer or local agency to confirm their specific PDH requirements. In many cases, our educational webinars will contribute toward these hours.
