Time:  12:00 PM (Noon) – 2:00 PM EDT

Presented by:  Gary Q. Johnson

Moderated by:  Christine Bernier Lienke, Associate Editor of Powder and Bulk Engineering

Webinar Details:  Dust collection systems have been involved in approximately 40% of the combustible dust incidents investigated, probably due to their prevalence in bulk solids handing sites . The National Fire Protection Association has specific requirements for dust collection systems in several NFPA standards. This webinar will describe the more common explosion protection equipment used in dust collection systems and list the requirements for dust collection systems from hoods to exhaust fans and recirculation, including wet as well as dry collectors. The NFPA standards have been changed in the last year so this webinar presents the up to date requirements for NFPA standards 654, 484, 664, 61, and 91.

Presenter Information:  Before becoming a consultant for Workplace Exposure Solutions, Gary worked in health, safety, and environment at Procter & Gamble for 27 years. His focus areas were dust control and central vacuum cleaning system design and maintenance, process safety around flammable vapors and combustible dusts, and environmental emissions and discharges. As a consultant over the last 9+ years, he has helped clients in consumer products, pharmaceuticals, plastics, paint and coatings, foods, flavorings, wood processing, specialty chemical, and metal forming industries.
